The fabric is placed in a grafting solution of a hydrophilic monomer for about three hours, washed in methanol, and decrystallized in a solution of zinc chloride for about one hour. The decrystallised fabric is then treated in a solution of sodium hydroxide at 50°C. for about one hour.
